Social Protection Workshop

The Subregional Workshop on Social Protection  took place at the Prakaipetch Room, Asia Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand on the 25th  and 26th  of October 2005. The research outputs  of the two-country research project entitled "Extending Social Protection to Homeworkers in Thailand and the Philippines: Analyzing, Evaluating and Sustaining the Work in Progress and Drawing Lessons from the Experience" were presented during this Workshop. In cooperation with the Ford Foundation, HomeNet Thailand, through the Foundation for Labor and Employment Promotion, and HomeNet Philippines (PATAMABA) have been involved with this project from May 2003 until 2005.

Participants to the workshop were mostly homeworker-members of sister Homenets in Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, India and Laos. Officials, representatives and labor officers from international development agencies, the Thai national government and international NGOs were invited to grace the workshop's Plenary opening.

The Subregional Workshop on Social Protection  also served as a forum for advancing policy alternatives and plans of action among the participating countries at the national and subregional levels.
