FOCUS ON HWPRI

OBJECTIVES

1. To provide social protection to women homeworkers
2. To unionize women homeworkers in Indonesia
3. To promote and maintain the dignity of Indonesian women homeworkers as respectable human beings
4. To promote visibility and recognition (especially by the government) of homeworkers as workers in the public sphere
5. To build the capacities of women homeworkers in solving the problems encountered

MEMBERS

1. HWPRI members are women homeworkers and employers in homebased industries who have common objective to pursue with women homeworkers
2. Membership in the HWPRI is comprised of :
- members
- candidates for membership
Members are those who have been officially accepted by the organizing committee to be members.
Candidates for membership are those who have been registered to the group of women homeworkers but have not met the membership conditions.

CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP

1. Agree to the rules which have been adopted by the group of women home-workers
2. Agree to actively participate in all activities
3. Aware of the importance of organizing women homeworkers in a union

THE RIGHTS OF THE MEMBERS

1. Every member has the freedom to state ideas in the organization
2. Every member has the right to benefit from the collective result of the organizing activity.
3. Every member has the right to become an organiser
4. Every member has the right to elect the organizing committee.
5. Every member has the right to obtain a membership card.
6. Every member has the right to participate in the HWPRI activities
7. Members have the right to propose ad-hoc members’ meeting under pressing circumstances

OBLIGATIONS OF MEMBERS

1. Each member is obliged to share knowledge, experience and skill to other members
2. Each member is obliged to abide by the rules of the organization
3. Each member is obliged to warn against any wrongdoing in any organizing committee undertaking.
4. Each member is obliged to bring in a new member.


ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

1. The General Assembly
The General Assembly is the governing body or the supreme authority of all HWPRI members

2. The Organizing Committees
. In every region, there shall be a regional organizing committee elected by members. The term of office shall be 3 years per term with a maximum of 2 terms. There shall be an executive committee consisting of representatives from the regions.

3. The Secretariat
The Secretariat's main function is to implement programs and activities agreed upon by members and provide services to members and non-members

THE RIGHTS OF THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEES

1. The right to represent the organization in meetings
2. The right to call for a meeting when deemed necessary
3. The right to take decisions in a participatory manner


THE OBLIGATIONS OF THE COMMITTEES

1. They are obliged to distribute information to all members
2. They are obliged to maintain and sustain the HWPRI
3. They are obliged to report activities and problems encountered to the advisory board of HWPRI

PROGRAMS / ACTIVITIES

1. Improving skills of homeworkers.
2. Sharing information among homeworkers
3. Helping each other in marketing products
4. Conducting meetings to consolidate membership
5. Lobbying and advocacy work with the government, national and local level
6. Expanding membership
7. Providing membership cards
8. Information sharing through newsletter, etc.
