1. YPSI
YPSI or Social Concern Foundation of Indonesia became
active in 1996, focusing on children and women as target groups. The women
programs aim at providing social protection and micro-business employment
to those in poverty

2. LDD
This institute is a social service arm of the Roman Catholic order in
Indonesia. Among various activities, it has been promoting the rights
of workers in the formal economy, By the mid-1990s, LDD became aware that
women homeworkers are employed in income-generating activities where they
are exploited and have no social protection. From then on, LDD has extended
its program ofsocial protection to homeworkers, focusing on those under
subcontracting for export, a relatively new phenomenon in West Java Province.

3. Bina Swadaya Yogyakarta
An autonomous NGO based in Yogyakarta, which initially focused on providing
credit and developing small scale and micro enterprises towards poverty
reduction. It veered towards organizing homeworkers when it became evident
that the latter were chiefly involved in the production process of these
enterprises. It is now focusing on social protection and a better employer-employee
relationship.

5. YPP
An NGO established in 1986 by a mix of interdisciplinary scientists, activists
and development practitioners who
care for the rural population. The main activities are education and research,
networking at various levels and advocacy, using participatory and bottom
up approach, and human resource empowerment with a gender perspective
and policy orientation. It has been organizing and empowering homeworkers
in three regencies since 1992. Social protection for women homeworkers
is only one YPP program among others. It was initiated in late 1990s with
a baseline research and an action program.

6. LPM Unmer
Lembaga Pengabdian Masyarakat or Community Service Institute of Unmer
University focuses on economically vulnerable groups. Lately, it has extended
its program of organizing small cooperatives and small scale enterprises
to rural women of the informal sector, many of whom are homeworkers. Lecturers
and students, especially those under the semi-annual field work program,
are involved in the implementation
